Google AIY Projects brings do-it-yourself artificial intelligence to your maker projects. The Google AIY Vision Kit lets you build an image recognition device that can see and identify objects, powered by TensorFlow’s machine learning models.

The kit includes all of the components needed to assemble the basic kit that works with the Google Assistant SDK as well as on-device voice recognition with TensorFlow using the Intel Movidius Myriad Vision Processing Unit (VPU) hardware assist.

Assembling the kit should take about one hour. This no-soldering-required, complete AIY kit is an awesome Pi Zero-powered project!

Note: This kit does not come with a USB power supply, the best option we would recommend would be this power supply here. Don't try to power your Raspberry Pi from your computer. It will not be able to provide enough power and it may corrupt the SD card, causing boot failures or other errors.

Cool Component!

This is a nicely conceived kit with everything you need to implement a Tensor-Flow based recognition system. It gives a reasonable amount of info on how to extend (hack) the kit. Unusually, it includes a MicroSD with Linux & Tensor Flow pre-installed (not as simple as it sounds!) & configured so you have something working following assembly. With some minor code changes to, say, activate GPIO pins - it can form the core of a bigger, more complex AI based project. My only negative is somewhere I read it could do voice / sound recognition. However, there's no mention of this in the instructions (apart from making beeps through the Piezo. Tensor can certainly do this - but only with additional hardware. A project for another day I guess!
