Swiss robotics company have designed ANYmal C, an autonomous mobile robot designed to revolutionise industrial inspections. Being able to traverse through many different environments as well as easily tackling stairs means that it is able to work in situations that are too dangerous for human inspectors.
Equipped with a variety of different sensors including front and rear high definition wide-angle cameras, thermal cameras, LIDAR, microphones, and gas detection sensors. This allows ANYmal to perceive and interpret a broad range of physical properties, so the system can evaluate instruments, check for the status of objects, detect hotspots, and senses gases and other environmental data.
Combining the power of the depth cameras, LIDAR and GPS, gives ANYmal its advanced locomotion control, real-time mapping, autonomous navigation. Check out the video of ANYmal in action below.
