Elowan is a combination of robotics and a living plant, it's a cybernetic plant. The system was created by some researchers from MIT's Media Lab who had the goal of creating a machine that was in direct dialogue with a living plant. The system uses the bioelectrochemical signals produced by the plant and interfaces them with a robotic extension which then drives the plant towards a light source. The creators of Elowan say it's an attempt to demonstrate what augmentation of nature could mean.
