The Biometric Robotics Laboratory at MIT has showcased it's newest set of robots called the Mini Cheetahs. Weighing only 9kg's (20 pounds) these 4 legged robots are able to run at speeds around 5mph, backflip play football and hide.
They are currently controlled and steered by the researchers using a controller similar to those used for RC-Cars but they are considering adding cameras which would allow the robots could self-navigate.
With all the new ideas and algorithms that are being planned for these Mini Cheetahs, from being used for emergency care to a robotic pet, we are looking forward to seeing the progression and direction that they move in.
