This is a metal bodied desoldering pump. It does exactly what it says on the tin, push down the plunger, put it next to molten solder, press the button and it sucks it up and away.

There are rubber o-rings on the nozzle to ensure a good vacuum, but this is a no thrills, dead useful piece of equipment.
