The MeArm is a flat pack robot arm kit, that you can build with nothing but a screwdriver and enthusiasm. The perfect kit to get you started in the world of programming, electronics, robotics and engineering! The MeArm is a kit for those who want to build their own brains and controllers and comprises of the classic MeArm robot arm kit version 1.1

**This kit does not include a controller.** It can be operated via any PWM output from any microcontroller of your choosing, from Raspberry Pi to Arduino. Here is a tutorial using the Arduino as a controller.

The robot arm kit is a miniature version of an industrial robot arm. So while it's simple enough to build and use with a child on a rainy Sunday afternoon, it can also be used at more advanced levels of education to teach real robotics.

MeArm is a pocket size robot arm. It was conceived to make robotics, electronics and programming accessible by driving down the cost of robot arm ownership. The ultimate aim is to make something low cost that you can build with nothing but a screwdriver and enthusiasm. MeArm is the world's most accessible robotic learning tool. It's a perfect kit for a Maker project or to inspire interest into STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects, introducing engineering, robotics, electronics and opening up a whole world of programming possibilities.

The MeArm project is Open Source. This means all of the design and code files are freely available for you to download, so that you can view, edit, learn from all of the work that has been put into the project so far. This covers the files for laser cutting, the PCB board schematics and board files (which are KiCad) and all of the software.

Note: This model of the MeArm comes in Nuka Cola Blue.This kit does not come with a controller.

MeArm robot kit

Very much enjoying building this with my 8 year old son. Exactly what we wanted in a kit. And enough assembly tips on the internet. We are driving it with the Raspberry Pi - very exciting!

MeArms in education

The arms are great for the price. I’ve used the deluxe package (with the micro-controller) and the standard package which just contains the arm. I’ve found buying the standard package and buying an Arduino to be the best route, but it takes a lot more time and expertise to set up. This setup procedure does however help to learn about Arduinos, breadboards and wiring. The movement and functionality with the arms is great, but limited. Such as, they can’t lift anything heavy and aren’t very dexterous, but at approximately £30 it is what I expected. The best feature about the arms is that if any parts break then you can easily laser cut a replacement using the designs supplied online, and the motors are standard servo motors which can be purchased online for very easily. I’ve had students use the arms to do multitudes of tasks, such as playing a keyboard, writing their name and stacking plastic shot glasses. The fact that you can manually program the arm using Python makes them great tools for learning to program.

Exactly what I was looking for

I already had a microcontroller, so all I needed was servos and the actual mechanical arm bit. Exactly what I wanted. Additionally the little cutout piece to quickly check the size of whatever tiny screw you'd picked up was a stroke of genius

Great fun. Do use the YouTube video to best optimise your efforts in building it though.
