Since we launched the Qwiic Connect System products on our site last November they've rapidly become some of the most popular products we stock. As you might have noticed since then we've added quite a few more Qwiic enabled sensors and boards to our site, as SparkFun have been busy quickly developing and releasing new boards. Just like SparkFun we intend to continue stocking and supporting the Qwiic range as we believe it makes prototyping and using sensors much easier and less time consuming. So here's a Qwiic update on some of the items we've added since November and why we think they're so useful.
These SparkFun Qwiic boards for the Raspberry Pi and Photon are the quickest and easiest way to enter into SparkFun's Qwiic ecosystem while still using the devices that you've come to know and love. Both of these Qwiic boards connect the I2C bus (GND, 3.3V, SDA and SCL) on your device to an array of Qwiic connectors on the HAT/Shield. |
VR IMU Breakout - BNO080:
Virtual reality is in, but you shouldn’t have to drop hundreds of dollars to gain access to the technology behind it. At its heart is Bosch’s BNO080, by combining a triple-axis accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer it produces accurate rotation vector headings, excellently suited for VR and other heading applications, with a static rotation error of two degrees or less. All the sensor data is combined and drift-corrected into meaningful, accurate IMU information. It’s perfect for any project that needs to sense orientation or motion. |

Micro OLED Breakout:
The Qwiic Micro OLED Breakout is a small monochrome, blue-on-black OLED screen which presents incredibly clear images for your viewing pleasure. While it’s “micro” in size, it still packs a punch — the OLED display is crisp, and can display a deceivingly large amount of graphics on there. This breakout is perfect for adding graphics to your next project and displaying diagnostic information without resorting to a serial output, all with the ease of use of the Qwiic Connect System! |

Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout - MMA8452Q: The MMA8452Q is a smart low-power, three-axis, capacitive MEMS accelerometer with 12 bits of resolution. This accelerometer is packed with embedded functions with flexible user programmable options, configurable to two interrupt pins. Embedded interrupt functions allow for overall power savings relieving the host processor from continuously polling data. |

Grid-EYE Infrared Array Breakout - AMG8833: The Grid-EYE Infrared Array Breakout board is an 8x8 thermopile array, meaning you have a square array of 64 pixels capable of independent temperature detection. It’s like having a thermal camera, just in a lower resolution. This IR “camera” board can detect human body heat at about 7 meters or less (that’s about 23 feet), and has an adaptable frame rate between 1 to 10 frames per second. |

The MLX90393 Magnetometer Breakout is a triple-axis magnetic sensor board capable of sensing very small fields (like the Earth’s magnetic field), while still behaving as one would expect during saturation in larger fields (like a nearby magnet). This breakout can be used as a compass sensor but also works well as a non-contact controller, a flow meter with a magnetic impeller, or a linear actuator position sensor. |
