YouTuber Hacker Shack recently created an in-depth video on his journey creating a Raspberry Pi powered smart doorbell. It works in a similar way to other popular branded smart doorbells, when the button is pressed it creates a virtual meeting room and sends an invitation to the owner's phone with a link to join. This can even be extended to create a fully functioning two-way video intercom system with more than one of the Pi based systems. You can check out the full video above or view the GitHub page here.
