Handle - The robot that loads and unloads pallets

Boston Dynamics are a company that's well known for their viral videos of their robotic creations which take the internet by storm but this week they shared a video of something a bit different. They shared a video of their warehouse robot Handle, it's a mobile manipulation robot designed specifically to aid their logistics department. The robot is able to both load and unload pallets containing multiple different items and boxes up to 15Kg from a pallet that's 1.7m tall. It uses an onboard vision system to track different items and pallets, this is then combined with a force control system which ensures the boxes are neatly placed as close as possible to any surrounding boxes without damaging them. It's an amazing creation and shows another area were automation can aid humans but we're not sure we'd want one zooming around our warehouse just yet.
