The electrical plane with no moving parts...

Researchers from MIT have achieved flight in their project to create a plane with no moving parts. The small-scale plane has a wingspan of 5 meters and weighs only 2.5kg but has absolutely no moving parts. The plane was kept in the air during its 12-second flight using "Ionic Wind", this is airflow created by ionized particles colliding during transfer in an electric field. We won't be taking any commercial flights on silent planes anytime soon but the technology could be used to avoid things such as noise pollution creation by drones in urban environments.
